Verizon and Frontier: FCC docket 26-227

Verizon and Frontier has asked the FCC for permission to stop offering home and business phone lines on the copper network (legacy voice service) in portions of Arizona, Delaware, New Jersey, New Mexico, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Utah, and Virginia, on or after October 23, 2026.

On September 25, 2026 the FCC said this application will not be granted automatically because it needs more time to review it. That is not a decision on the request itself. FCC notice

We matched it to 831 telephone exchanges in 9 states. A filing that covers "portions" of a state doesn't list addresses, so a line in one of these towns may or may not be included.
