Phone systems for law firms
Clients call the firm, not the attorney's cell phone. Attorneys are in court, in depositions or working from home, and every missed call from a potential client is a case that may go to the next firm.
Get a quoteWhat the phones need to do
- Reach attorneys wherever they are, showing the firm's number, never their personal one.
- Send new-client calls somewhere they always get answered.
- Voicemail that arrives by email, so nothing sits unheard.
- Calls logged against the right matter in your practice software.
How we set it up
We put firms on RingCentral. Each attorney gets an extension that rings their desk phone and the app at the same time. The receptionist sees who is available, transfers calls, and new-client calls go to a queue that rolls until someone answers.
Clio and other legal tools connect to RingCentral through its App Gallery, so calls can be logged to the client and matter. We set up the connection your firm uses.
Things to plan for
- Call recording: decide your firm's policy first. Automatic recordings in RingCentral are kept 90 days unless saved elsewhere, and some states require everyone on the call to agree to recording.
- Texting clients needs carrier registration, which takes a few weeks.
- Your numbers: we port the main number and direct lines so clients keep calling the same numbers.
Questions
Does it work with Clio?
Yes. Clio connects through RingCentral's App Gallery for click-to-call and call logging. Other practice software has its own connections; ask us about yours.
Can attorneys use their cell phones?
Yes, through the RingCentral app. Calls show the firm's number, and their personal number stays private.
