Phone systems for multi-location businesses
With several locations, phones usually end up a patchwork: different carriers, different systems, and no way to transfer a call from one site to another. Every new location makes it worse.
Get a quoteWhat the phones need to do
- Local numbers for each location, on one system.
- Transfers between locations like an extension down the hall.
- One main number that routes callers to the right location.
- The same setup at every site, so opening a new one is quick.
How we set it up
We put multi-location businesses on RingCentral. Every site keeps its local numbers, extensions work across sites, and a main menu can route callers by location. You manage it all from one place, and adding a location is mostly shipping phones.
Each site depends on its internet for phones, so we usually pair it with backup internet at each location; see FAILOVER5.
Things to plan for
- Your numbers: we port every location's numbers, so nothing changes for callers.
- Copper lines at each site for alarms, elevators or fax: these need a line replacement. Check each location's area.
Questions
Can locations have different hours?
Yes. Each site can have its own schedule and after-hours routing.
Do all locations need to switch at once?
No. Locations can move one at a time and still transfer calls to sites that have already moved.
