Copper phone lines are going away. Your alarms can't.
Ooma AirDial, from Twisted VoIP.
A drop-in replacement for the lines your fire alarms, elevator phones, fax machines, and call boxes depend on. Cellular service with battery backup, using the equipment you already have.
Arizona & New Mexico: Frontier (now part of Verizon) has filed with the FCC to discontinue traditional copper phone service in parts of its service area, as early as October 23, 2026. See affected communities
The Lines That Still Run on Copper
When the copper is retired, these stop working unless they are moved first.
Fire & Burglar Alarm Panels
Keep your monitoring company receiving signals without replacing the panel.
Elevator Emergency Phones
Keep the emergency phone in every cab working and connected.
Fax Machines
Medical offices, pharmacies, and schools that still send and receive by fax.
Gate & Door Call Boxes
Entry systems that dial out to a phone when a visitor calls.
Card Terminals & ATMs
Older payment equipment that still uses a dial-up line.
Emergency & Courtesy Phones
Pool, parking lot, and campus phones that must always work.
How It Works
We review your lines, Ooma sets up the service.
We review your lines
Tell us what each line connects to. We confirm whether your address is affected and whether AirDial fits.
Ooma sets up AirDial
Ooma handles installation. AirDial connects to your existing phone wiring and equipment, so there is no new wiring and, in most cases, no new panel.
Your lines move over
Lines run over cellular with battery backup, and should be tested with your alarm or elevator company before the copper goes away. We stay your point of contact throughout.
Frontier Copper Retirement in Arizona & New Mexico
Frontier and Verizon have applied to the FCC to discontinue residential and business legacy copper voice service, including business lines, PBX trunks, ISDN, and key systems, in portions of their Arizona and New Mexico service areas. The FCC lists the authorized date as on or after October 23, 2026 (WC Docket Nos. 26-227 and 26-228).
The filing covers parts of the communities below, not necessarily every address. If you have alarm, elevator, or fax lines in one of them, send us your address and we will check.

Common Questions
- Is my address affected?
- Frontier's filing covers portions of these communities, not necessarily every address. Send us your service address and we will check it and tell you what we find.
- Will my alarm or elevator company need to do anything?
- Usually only a test call to confirm signals are received after the switch. We will help you plan that with your monitoring or elevator company.
- What happens if the power goes out?
- AirDial includes battery backup, so alarm and emergency lines keep working during an outage.
- I am not in Arizona or New Mexico. Can you still help?
- Yes. Copper phone lines are being retired across the country. AirDial works anywhere there is cellular coverage, and we can review your lines wherever you are.
